About Us

FreezeFrame started because we could not stand watching film history go in a skip.

For most of a century, every movie that played in a cinema existed as something you could hold. Real 35mm celluloid, threaded through a projector, lit from behind, throwing light across a dark room full of strangers. Then cinemas went digital, and almost overnight the format stopped being made.

We track down genuine 35mm cinema film and give it a second life. Every piece we sell is real celluloid that ran through a projector. We clean it, cut it by hand, and mount a single frame so it can be seen the way film was always meant to be seen, with light coming through it rather than bouncing off it.

Hold one up to a window and it comes alive. That is the whole point.

Each physical frame exists exactly once. We cut it, we frame it, and that is the only one there will ever be. When a piece sells it is gone, and we are not making another.

We do not sell digital prints, reproductions or replicas. Only the real thing.

We are keeping this deliberately small. Small batches, careful work, and as little packaging waste as we can manage.

Thanks for backing an independent project.
